FAQ
What is collagen?
Collagen is a natural protein found in our skin, hair, nails, bones, and connective tissues, responsible for keeping things smooth, strong, and supported. It’s best to think of collagen as your body’s building blocks or scaffolding, providing the structure and elasticity to keep everything in place. Collagen accounts for 70% of our dry mass skin content and it’s the collagen fibres that provide the infrastructure for elastin, which maintains our skin’s elasticity (aka keeping our skin resilient and bouncy). Put really simply, collagen keeps our skin looking supple, plump and radiant, our hair thick and shiny and our nails strong and healthy (as well as lots of other things). For a more in depth dive into what collagen is, you can read more here.
What makes Absolute Collagen so unique?
Put simply, our unique supplement formulas contain the most collagen in the smallest dose at the lowest possible price. Perfectly portioned and easy to take, you can enjoy your daily dose of collagen – no fuss, no faff required. Our exclusive blend of hydrolysed liquid marine collagen and Vitamin C performed exceptionally during the largest and most robust testing of a collagen supplement.
When should I start taking collagen?
Short answer? As early as you like. The longer answer is that clinical research and studies have shown that our body's natural collagen production starts to decline from around the age of 25. By the time we hit 50, that drops to 50%. Yes, that’s write. Our collagen levels drop to half of what they were. As with any natural skin care or nutritional regime, it never hurts to start early. So whether you’re starting to notice subtle, early signs of ageing or simply want to counter more visible signs of ageing, people of all ages can benefit from taking additional collagen.
What sort of effects can I expect to see taking Absolute Collagen?
As with all skin care and nutritional supplements, it all depends on your body, age and genetics. However, there are multiple benefits to taking our award-winning liquid and powder supplements. In our clinical trials, 100% of women taking part noticed an improvement in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and skin evenness whilst 69% saw an improvement in skin elasticity. Participants also saw an improvement in hair thickness and shine as well as
stronger, healthier nails. And while there’s technically no scientific way to measure the glow from inside, out, we like to think our success stories do the talking here.
How do you source your ingredients?
All the ingredients in our supplements are 100% natural. You can read more about our liquid collagen and powder collagen on our product pages. Our collagen is derived from hydrolysed collagen peptides that are sourced from the skin of freshwater fish. These fish are farmed for human consumption and therefore, not sourced purely for their collagen. We work with a world-leading European manufacturer to ensure that our collagen is certified fit for human consumption and that everything from fish care to environmental and ethical credentials are of the highest standards. We only work with suppliers who meet our very specific criteria and all the suppliers within our supply chain adhere to our strict code of conduct.
Is Absolute Collagen a carbon neutral company?
Indeed we are. We are committed to removing the same amount of greenhouse gases that we produce by supporting third-party carbon offsetting projects across the world. You can learn all about the incredible projects we’re supporting and how we are reducing our carbon emissions as a business here. We’re also B Corp certified.
