What is liquid collagen and how does liquid collagen work?
Liquid collagen is collagen that is in a ready-to-drink liquid form. Where collagen tablets, capsules and pills come solid with a drink of water to wash down, liquid collagen is digested and absorbed into the bloodstream more quickly and efficiently than solid supplements. That’s because the body has to work harder to extract nutrients when they’re delivered in solid form.
Additionally, using liquid collagen supplements means a more highly concentrated dose can be packed into a small serving when compared to a collagen tablet or pill.

At Absolute Collagen, each 10ml liquid collagen sachet packs in a mighty 8000mg of hydrolysed marine collagen, ready to drink straight from the sachet!
“Hydrolysed” simply means the collagen has undergone the
hydrolysis process, which breaks down collagen fibres into small collagen chains known as collagen peptides. These peptides are small enough to enter the bloodstream, whereas collagen fibres - also known as native collagen molecules- are too large to pass through into the bloodstream.

Collagen capsules and pills are terms that are often used interchangeably, but there are some subtle differences. Firstly, “collagen pill” is an over-arching term that encompasses both collagen capsules and tablets.
Collagen capsules are slightly different from tablets, however, as they usually have some kind of dissolvable casing around the collagen itself. Collagen tablets are comprised of collagen powder which is then tightly pressed together to form a pill. As such, you might see “collagen powder” used when looking into collagen tablets.
Liquid collagen does exactly as it says on the tin – it is collagen in liquid form that has no powders or dissolvable casings. Liquid collagen has lots of benefits and is just as highly regulated and as safe as collagen tablets.

There is a lot to – ahem – digest when deciding which collagen is the best and whether to take liquid collagen or collagen pills. Depending on your lifestyle, a certain collagen form may be better suited to you.
Take a look at our helpful table and FAQs below to easily compare both types of collagen supplement.
Collagen liquid is very convenient and can be taken on-the-go, whereas for collagen tablets you may need a sip of water for your collagen tablets.
Liquid collagen can be taken anywhere at any time, and both liquid and tablet collagen products are easily stored at room temp. For best results, however, collagen drinks work best when stored in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.
It depends on how you prefer to take your collagen, or any supplement for that matter. If you are one of many people who have trouble swallowing pills, then liquid collagen is the best type of collagen supplement for you as it is quick and easy to consume.
You will also have to consider frequency of usage. Typically, collagen pills are not very big and it’s likely you will need to
take more pills to get the desired effect. In a pre-mixed shot of liquid collagen, however, one sachet is often all you need.
In fact, one 10ml sachet of Absolute Collagen is so perfectly concentrated that it is equivalent to taking 16 collagen pills! But don’t worry, you won’t be over-doing it with our marine liquid collagen – one 10ml sachet is the perfect dosage for best results.
Are collagen capsules or collagen drinks more effective?
Many people question if liquid collagen is better than collagen capsules or pills and if collagen drinks work better than alternatives.
The good news is that liquid collagen is more easily absorbed in the body than collagen pills, tablets, or powders, as liquids
bypasses the intestinal barrier more quickly than solid forms. Liquid supplements, like our liquid collagen supplement, have an absorption rate of 90-95% compared to 40-45% for collagen pills. It is for this reason that we like to call our collagen
products ‘highly bioavailable’ as our customers see collagen results that much faster!
