The clinical trial was the largest and most robust, gold-standard, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial of hydrolysed collagen supplements ever done.
Independently run, the clinical trial included 130 healthy male and female participants, between 40-60 years old, and ran over 12 weeks. The trial data included clinical measures and self-reported data, with over 30,000 individual data points recorded.
Absolute Collagen contains 8000mg (8grams) of Hydrolysed Collagen in combination with Vitamin C, and this was tested against a placebo similar in colour, viscosity and flavour. Skin and hair measures were taken at Week 0, Week 6 and Week 12.

During the 12-week clinical trial, some participants took the Absolute Collagen every day and others took it every other day, to see what difference frequency of use had on the results.
Although all trial participants that took Absolute Collagen showed some clinical improvements in skin measurement, the results were clear - taking the supplement daily is 53% more effective for the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, 23% more effective for skin evenness and 21% more effective on skin elasticity.

Eight weeks after the double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial had ended, some participants returned so we could see if there was any effect on the results when they stopped taking the supplement.
When re-testing clinical measures of the skin following 8-weeks not taking the supplement, it showed that everyone had a reduction in the improvement of at least one of their skin measures. As well as this, all participants also said they actually felt a loss of skin benefit when they stopped using the supplement too.
Clinical Results:
- The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles improved by 20% after 12 weeks of taking the supplement. After 8 weeks of stopping, this improvement reduced to 12%.
- Clinical measures of skin elasticity improved by 53% over 12 weeks. After 8 weeks, this improvement reduced by 40%.
Self Reported Results:
- Of those that noticed benefits to skin firmness at the end of the 12 weeks (73%), only 60% (44%) saw these benefits maintained when they stopped taking the supplement.
- Of those that noticed improvements in the appearance of reduced wrinkles at the end of the 12 weeks (71%) only 70% (50%) saw the benefits maintained after they stopped taking the supplement.
